Burberry’s heritage dates back more than a century, and yet, Thomas Burberry’s fashion house is without a doubt the most equipped to carry out a dialogue with successive generations. The brand’s creative director Christopher Bailey endlessly seeks to brush up against the avant-garde. For next season, he doesn’t hesitate to multiply his references to the British monarchy albeit in a somber, more edgy vein.
The trenchcoat, the brand’s iconic piece, is this year taking shape through military inspiration after its numerous other evolutionary phases. Colored ebony and edged with golden thread, the piece was produced by a manufacturer that’s been specialized in army uniforms since the 18th century. In other words, they’re created by the same embroiderers as the Queen’s Guard. Refined, minutely worked and increasingly enrapturing, the Burberry trenchcoat is reinvented upon contact with a Sgt. Pepper-esque style. Sure to be a hit with a new generation in search of stylized nonchalance!
