In 1981, hot off the success of his very first collection, Michael Kors was only 19 when he decided to try his hand at having his own brand. That same year, the American fashion house released a collection of sports clothes for women: a line that wasn’t exactly athletic, but rather athletic chic. Everything resided in a fastidious conception where the fabrics became voluptuous. The line was so delicate that the sumptuous department stores Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue decided to pick it up. The collection would become a Holy Grail for jet-setters; in 1999, Michael Kors received the prestigious CFDA prize. He wouldn’t slow down for a second though, and, with success under his belt, the designer chose to enlarge his line’s prestige by offering his loyal clientele the pleasure of decking out in it from head to toe. In 2001, he released his first accessories line. With his sober and delicate style, Michael Kors never fails to respond to contemporary demands.
The Kors icon: the Wallet Clutch, made both as a case for the iPhone 4S and a concept wallet. A sleek wallet case that, on its right extremity, cradles an iPhone while the left holds a wallet. Better yet, he even thought of cutouts for the FaceTime lens, proximity sensor, and recharge/ sync ports. Each clutch is individually made by hand in the best Saffiano leather. All in all, the quality and attention to detail characteristic of its artisanal work allows the piece to ascend to the ranks of a luxurious and timeless icon.
