The first crocodile shirts appeared on the courts in the 30s. Success would soon follow, and the L1212 polo would become the brand’s mainstay piece. Today, the Lacoste polo is much more than a worldwide best seller. It’s the symbol of casual elegance, perfectly incarnating “easy chic”. It’s so appreciated that it has never ceased to invent itself. Perpetually innovative, the Lacoste polo is constantly updated to better fit with the times. “L!ve”, a young, urban, fitted line “Club”, an emblematic polo for the brand’s 75th anniversary, or the more recent stretch models are the perfect example. The athletic roots anchored in these collections are more current than ever.
Ever since 2006, the brand has also launched numerous limited editions of its famous polo. Designers Tom Dixon, Michael Young, the magazine Visionaire, the Campana brothers, Li Xiaofeng, and Jonathan Adler have all had the pleasure of reinventing the Lacoste polo all while adding their own personal touch. And so, the Eco polo and the Techno polo (every bit as eco friendly and futuristic as their names would imply), the Plastic polo (a mixture of textile and plastic), the Amazonien polo (inspired by crocodiles of the Amazon), the Porcelaine polo (inspired by the scenery of China), or the Holiday Collector polo with its contemporary style have all reared their head these past few years. Official partner of the Roland Garros tournament since 1971, this year marks the 43rd year of the special connection between Lacoste and tennis. Once more this year, a special collection has been created. A collection for women and for men, still representative of Lacoste’s spirit!
