For the 3rd consecutive year, Artchrial has chosen Monaco’s Hermitage hotel as its summer home. The occasion is ripe for a prestigious week of auctions in the ritzy principality. The most wild versions of the iconic Birkin and Kelly bags will be presented, honoring the most beautiful of exotic skins and the boldest of colors. But this time, the auction house will be putting up a rare object that pays homage to the elegant figure that was Grace Kelly. As chance would have it, this year will also see a film inspired by her life, directed by Olivier Dahan, opening the Cannes Film Festival.
This bag is a collector’s piece, specially created for the “Les Années Grace Kelly” exhibit held at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco in 2007. The brand created a 40cm Kelly bag made of Epsom blue jean veal, with a textile decor printed with a serigraphy portrait of the princess. A unique piece who’s objective was to prolong in our memories the beauty, softness, and grace of a Princess who became a living legend. Hermès, forever associated with the inalterable image of this icon, definitely owed her this homage that continues to honor her memory.
