The building on Regent Street that serves as host to this exceptional hotel was originally named Café Royal by Daniel Nicolas Thévenon, a French wine trader. The year was 1865. Year after year, its architecture and cellar, long considered the best in the world, earned it a solid reputation. It didn’t take much to attract distinguished personalities in the world of the arts and letters. It’s said that in these walls of stone, English author Oscar Wilde fancied eating lunch; every day at 1:00 p.m. sharp, he would take his place at the same table.

One century later, the tables are occupied by his worthy successors. In another era, one might have even spotted Andy Warhol ambling around. Indeed, this place has always ravished the highest of luminaries. It’s even a favorite of the royal family, having hosted many of its members such as George VI or Princess Diana. After the restoration and transformation that turned it into a contemporary hotel between 2008 and 2012, the Café Royal has been able to preserve all of its history, engraved into its very architecture.

The hotel is a superb mixture of art, history, and modernity. Today, it boasts 159 rooms and 6 historic suites such as the “Tudor” suite that perfectly mixes history and English chic. Within these hallowed halls lie several restaurants, a private club, meeting rooms decked out with the latest technology, and a personal health center complete with spa, a gym, and a covered pool. All of these services make the hotel one of the most attractive in London. Ideally located close to Bond Street and Mount Street, the most selective clubs and art galleries in the historic Saint James neighborhood round off this glitzy bit of London. Even better, it offers a breathtaking view of Piccadilly Circus, a street famous for the bright lights of the billboards it’s dotted with. Pique your curiosity; this reference in luxury hospitality is best discovered in person!
