It was in 1970 that Manolo Blahnik crossed paths with Diana Vreeland. Interested in his talent, the “Big Chief Forever” advised him to concentrate exclusively on shoes. That’s what he would do starting in 1972. In that year, British designer Ossie Clar entrusted Manolo Blahnik with the creation of the shoes for his runway shoe; it was a revelation. Blahnik would instantly prove himself to be a master in the art of perfect cambrure, imagining shoes with style and incomparable comfort. For him, every shoe has to be perfect – Manolo Blahnik fights for quality and nothing less! This is how the Hangisi shoe came to be. These satin pumps with high heels and pointed tips are identifiable with their large square buckle adorned with rhinestones – without a doubt the most luxurious thing ever created for the feet. And yet, this Blahnik emblem from the rather discrete shoemaker may never have enjoyed such notoriety without the immense publicity it got from a certain Carrie Bradshaw, who was totally addicted to Manolo’s creations.
The Blahnik equation has everything it takes to be an icon: a sophisticated and moderated equilibrium of the entire shoe brought his creation into the ranks of a complete range of works reposing on a talent that is neither too elegant nor too svelte. Truly one of a kind, the Manolo Blahnik label allows you both to obtain a chic and sexy cambrure all while keeping your heels in perfect balance. The brand is no doubt ingenious, and that’s why they’re dedicated to ceaselessly reinventing women’s shoes with innovative shapes and mixtures of fabrics and colors… One day Madonna even described the entire experience as being “better than sex”. Its an exercise in precision, in equilibrium, in savoir-faire, and in a love for luxury that animates this artist who, just like the benevolent Gods above, watches over our individuality. Like he himself said: “You weren’t mass-produced, so be unique!”
