The Great Year and The Great Year Rosé 2015 Bollinger – A Memorable Vintage

The year 2015 provided Bollinger with a climate conducive to creating exceptional wines. With measured rainfall and scorching sun, the year was marked by a grape maturity rarely achieved. Denis Bunner, Wine Director, emphasizes the importance of this year: “2015 is the most Bollinger vintage in spirit ever. More opulent, more powerful, with this majestic Pinot Noir.”

And it is in the bottle that the Bollinger spirit is truly savored! The Great Year 2015, with its golden yellow reflections, testifies to the wine’s maturity and Bollinger’s traditional winemaking methods. On the nose, one discovers stone fruits, notes of Canadian apple, plum, and mirabelle, punctuated by a touch of honey. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, cherry, and raspberry then emerge, offering a real parade of red fruits with a hint of almond. On the palate, the attack is fleshy and ample, reminiscent of mirabelle jam. The finish combines notes of chocolate and citrus, bringing an acidic touch prolonged by a hint of schist.

For The Great Year Rosé 2015, the robe offers a taste of delicately pink reflections. The nose focuses on primary aromas, offering a gourmet composition of fruits, intermingling strawberry juice, tangerine, and rhubarb. On the palate, the attack is silky, preluding a pulpy and juicy wine. Stone fruits dominate at first, then give way to a finish with notes of blood orange, forming a tannic and elegant structure. A fine layer of fat remains at the end of the mouth, concluding the tasting on a note of refinement.

At Bollinger, tradition does not stop at the quality of the grapes. The House indeed perpetuates artisanal methods, such as oak barrel vinification, which allows micro-oxygenation promoting an extraordinary aging potential. It is Gaël Chaunut, the in-house cooper, who continues to manufacture and maintain the barrels from the wood of the family forest in Cuis, ensuring a perfect symbiosis between nature and craftsmanship.

And when you know that James Bond, the revered sophisticated secret agent, has chosen Bollinger as his champagne of choice since “Live and Let Die,” it becomes clear why he celebrates his victories with a glass of Bollinger, a symbol of luxury, refinement, and unparalleled craftsmanship!

The Great Year and The Great Year Rosé 2015 are ultimately true culinary partners. Their texture and complexity pair perfectly with dishes such as game, foie gras, or red fruits. Each tasting reveals deep aromas and creamy effervescence, the signature of Bollinger!
