For several seasons now, Lacoste’s new creative director has been recreating the brand’s image. In a jazzier vein, and with a younger and more urban spirit, Felipe Oliveira Baptista is creating a collection for next season that’s once more blurring the lines between athletic fashion and urban fashion. With the next Olympics right around the corner, the ballet of national flags transformed this spirit into a graphic event.
There were few crocodile insignias; a fragmented flag thus establishes a new graphic element that infuses a whole new breath of life into the brand’s patrimony. This new abstract visual excitement is recombined into a certain number of national banners – French, Swiss, Japanese, American… The polo is also reinvented and, through the imagination of Oliveira Baptista, becomes a mini-dress with a kaleidoscopic motif. This chic, fun, and graphic must-have is just as alluring as it is casual.
