In the background soars the new World Trade Center. On the anniversary of September 11, 2001, Givenchy presented their Spring/Summer 2016 runway during New York Fashion Week. With the help of Marina Abramovic, as well as the cooperation of a stunning sunset over the Hudson, Riccardo Tisci brought an hommage down the runway: an hommage to his collections over the past 10 years, and an hommage to the tragedy of September 11th.

From the depths of his memories, the creative director of Givenchy brings out all the essence of haute couture and men’s and women’s ready-to-wear. The 88 looks that went down the runway presented a mixture of delicate lace, carefully constructed drapings, and titillating silk…The collection didn’t take many creative risks, but rather aimed to anchor itself in the black and white calligraphy of Givenchy’s dresses. Among them, a cocktail dress with romantic lace captures the body in unstructured lightness. Embroidered and thought up with ultra-modern transparency, the Givenchy cocktail dress softly plays with solemnities and, with its embroidered lace edges, divulges a maximized and untouchable femininity.
