Military garb: coats fit for a soldier or an aviator, or officer pants… rock ’n’ roll outfits straight out of a Bowie-esque wardrobe: sequined dresses, studded boots, or a handbag complete with guitar strap… trenchcoats cut in every fabric… this is how Burberry’s Fall/Winter 2016 runway was summed up. There’s no doubt that Britain is in no short supply of musicians, aristocratic extravagance, or downright desirable army tailoring. “From the Mitford sisters to army men with a bit of glam-rock in between, it reflects everything I like,” confided Bailey backstage.
And so the mythic Duffle Coat is modernized in an uncustomary khaki-green paired with XXL Brandebourgs… The shoulders falling, the collar large and profound, the brand’s creative director chose to craft the key piece in his runway in a very light cashmere.
