Beneath their apparent softness, Dior’s innocents reveal a character of their own: without ever losing their manners, nor for that matter their sophistication, the beauties imagined by Raf Simons slip into quasi-experimental and yet ever so wearable garb. For tops and shorts, the designer took inspiration from the universe of Victorian lingerie, while in the same motion he takes on the liberation of the body’s oscillations. These may be light and airy pieces, but they’re heavily imbued with sophistication. Indeed, Raf Simons likes to play with juxtapositions. This is how they ended up with the iconic Diorama bag in hand.
Issued from the meeting of the savoir-faire of the brand’s leathergoods workshops and the resolutely urban and conceptual mind of the brand’s creative director, the Diorama bag plays with combinations and defies all genres. Mixing lamb leather and a jarring metallic chain handle, a badge-like clasp is finally marked off with a CD. The bag is embroidered to give the illusion of Dior’s cannage motif, conceived in a crumpled veal leather that’s boldly frosted! This frank attitude reinvents Dior’s signatures through a couture and ultra-contemporary look… It’s a must-have in the making.
