The late 90s was a real turning point for Tod’s. 1997 was the year of its first collection of bags, with the first style named the D-Bag. It was called that as an homage to Princess Diana who, since it was a trendy style, adopted the D-Bag and made it a hit with women everywhere. Ever since its creation, it expresses the classic and chic values of the Italian brand to symbolize high quality. The D-Bag: a precise feminine reinterpretation of something that’s a mix between a doctor bag and a bowling bag. Ever since its debut in ’97, the D-Bag has largely evolved, softening its structure and its silhouette throughout the years. In the most recent version, the model acquires two handles and a strap; perfect for carrying it in a more refined way, or with more casualness. Throughout the years, Tod’s hasn’t hesitated to innovate by releasing it in diverse materials and flashy colors.
Caroline de Monaco, Cindy Crawford, Kristin Scott Thomas, Hilary Clinton, and Kate Middleton are just a few of the actresses, models, or singers to have adopted the iconic D-Bag. After years of success thanks to its timeless design, beauty, and quality fabrication, 2013 marked the return of the new D-Bag during Milan Fashion Week. The perfect occasion for the brand to present the new line of its famous bag and a return to center stage for new releases. For this Spring/Summer 2015 collection, the D-Bag’s new shapes sported an elegance that was both seasonal and timeless. The brand also launched the D-Cube Bag, a reinterpretation of the D-Bag with a more geometric aspect. Today and perhaps more so than ever, the D-Bag is definitively considered to be an object of desire.
