The runway was called “Paris Cosmopolite”. Using the newly-opened Ritz for the backdrop, this Métiers d’Art collection honors poetry, refinement, but also the marvel and awe of Paris in the 20s. This hotel was chosen by Karl Lagerfeld to reaffirm his attachment to the City of Light, the city where “the Ritz is thecosmopolitan place par excellence,” according to the designer himself. From the lobby to the Espadon restaurant or the Bar Vendôme’s terrace, the Jardin d’Hiver, or the Salon Proust, the entire life of this legendary luxury hotel and its sumptuous fêtes is written through the comings and goings of its international guests at lunch, teatime, and dinner.
Marvelously inspired by “dinner dresses that women used to wear to dine at the Ritz”, this cosmic dress takes on a silhouette with a marked waist and a stretched length, all the while being punctuated by bits of plumetis tulle – with a slanted cut and a tightened fit. Made of lace and tulle embroidered with organza and silk roses, mixing black and navy blue, these embroideries worked down to the last detail by Lemarié as well as their sun pleats mark the perfect alliance to celebrate craftsmanship for Métiers d’Art, as well as the eternal chic of Paris. At Chanel’s home, the Ritz, day and night intersect to become one…
