Once more, Chanel’s runway closed Paris Fashion Week by moving many an onlooker. Beneath the glass dome of the Grand Palais, Karl Lagerfeld set off a rocket to close this Fall/Winter 2017-2018 runway. The installation of an immaculate 37 meter-tall PVC space engine was inspired by a mission carried out by French astronaut Thomas Pesquet at the International Space Station. Karl Lagerfeld imagined the classics of the house on rue Cambon through a futuristic prism as masterful as it is image-sharp.

“I find it quite nice,” Karl Lagerfeld commented after the runway. “Traveling for so long in a machine like that, I would be claustrophobic, but he seems to do fine. He even makes jokes; I admire that!” The Chanel woman is thus turning to the cosmos with a mysterious and optimistic allure, but first and foremost an ‘elsewhere’ that offers a plethora of allegories that are near and dear to the Chanel label. Among the looks that went down the runway, this rocket clutch is the must have for next season. The black and silver Chanel rocket clutch plays with the brand’s codes to illustrate dreams yet to come
