A very current couture, conceived especially to be worn, is where Bouchra Jarrar’s talent lies. Loyal to her très Parisian spirit, Bouchra Jarrar doesn’t resort to opulence or extravagance. “Strength and femininity – that’s the woman of today.” For summer 2015, she thought up an urban and chic haute couture, feminine and masculine, without ever causing a confrontation between the two. And so the perfecto, the keystone piece in her collections, is made with couture accents: an association of two materials as unexpected as it is awesome.
With her fair share of audacity, the designer mixes rock’n’roll with classic tweed in a piece that’s full of contrasts and completely coherent with our time. She upgrades the biker jacket but still manages to preserve all its details. All the essential characteristics are included: the telltale zipper on the side, the attached belt, or the shoulder details… In this union of chic and urban, Bouchra Jarrar brings out a bit of punk and pairs it with Parisian swing and a resolutely feminine sensibility.
