Very discretely, Karl Lagerfeld presented his 50th collection for Fendi last week: a collection with a little something special, as the pieces borrow their structured lines from the architecture of the Palazzo della Civilta Italiana. The analogy may be surprising, but in reality, the edifice is today home to Fendi. So forget about the past, these structured shapes and geometric motifs are here to bequeath the Fendi woman with a noble and chic look in the here and now. Karl Lagerfeld uses his absolute mastery for cut-outs to compose what amounts to a stunningly splendid collection.
Among the multitude of pieces that went down the runway in Milan, the Fendi woman reveals her flamboyant nature in a pleasantly subversive bestiary coat. The Fendi look has character, but this time around it’s getting toned down and feminized with longer cuts. That’s how a long coat made of fox fur, dyed a chalky white, ends up literally protecting Lindsey Wixson. The piece is spectacular with its voluminous, luxurious, and ever so audacious cut. One thing is certain: the Fendi woman’s temperament is refined by the sheer amount of possibilities before her.
