Artisan of ultra-chic minimalism, Thomas Maier will be celebrating his 15th year with Bottega Veneta next year. It’s only natural than that Maier is opting for a Fall/Winter 2015-2016 season that’s anchored in a male/female attitude, graciously oscillating between vintage and modernity. His stylistic equation conveys a “sense of nonchalant style”; the cause may just be the contrasting colors that could easily be transposed onto a Roy Lichtenstein painting. This is the Maier touch, a stylistic gesture where the color shades do the talking.
Among the pieces that went down the runway in Milan, the 7 league boots deserve particular attention. Partisan of luxury in the details, Tomas Maier redesigned his shoe around a sensual and cerebral design. As so often is the case in his collections, the designer started by working with color. With incredible sophistication, he brought a golden piece that plays with optical effects into the world. The superposition of the details becomes lighter when, on the foot of Bottega’s belle of the ball, the boot takes on a flippant but preciously worked look.
