This is a new era for Smart, with the arrival of its first 100% premium electric SUV.

The name Smart #1 obvisously alludes to the fact that the electrical SUV is the first of this era. This is a model measuring 4,27 meters, far from the smart we knew.

Esthetically, the model generally follows the lines of Concept #1 presented last year in Munich. Shapes are curved, the Matrix LED lenses connected by a link are present, whereas the rear has a distinct identity. We also find a panoramic glass roof, rims up to 19 inches in diameter range, and handles retractable.

In the passenger compartment, the whole is harmonized with the exterior shapes. There is a 12.8-inch touch screen with a customizable interface, an ambiance lighting that can be set on 64 colors and 20 lighting levels, or else a 9.2 inches instrumentation digital system. The volume of the luggage compartment varies from 323 to 411 liters depending on the position of the back seat.

Under the hood, as with all the new Smart now, we can find an electric powertrain with a single electric motor at the rear with 272 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque. The car weighs 1,820 kilos and can reach up to 180 km/h. The lithium-ion battery has a maximum capacity of 66 kWh and offers an autonomy between 420 and 440 km.

Smart #1 can be recharged on an AC power outlet with a maximum power of 22 kW, while the DC load can reach 150 kW.

For now, we do not yet know the French prices, but the car will be sold this year in France. It will coexist with the Smart EQ Fortwo and the Smart EQ Forfour.
