Sergio Rossi, the famous design house founded in Italy, needs no introduction. Typically Mediterranean, its incomparable savoir-faire privileges a fiery sensuality. Pumps, sandals, ankle boots, and thigh highs gain a little height thanks to a vertiginous and majestic heel, supporting a sole with voluptuous curves whoâs pointed toe suggests the power of a Southern European femininity. It was in 1970 with the advent of a remarkable collection with Gianni Versace that the designer acquired his unprecedented renown. The success hasnât left him since, as he reinvents himself each season all while keeping up his flaming Italian style. This lasciviousness has been close to the environment since 2009, a date stamped by the brandâs initial involvement in ecological development with its new shoe dubbed the âEcopumpâ.
Designed by none other than Francesco Russo, the brandâs creative director, this shoe was made with injections of liquid wood as well as scraps of recycled leather in the sole – in order to create less waste. Sergio Rossi, reputed for his artisanship and unique selection of leathers got the upper hand by only using environmentally friendly vegetal tannins. The sole, certainly innovative but nevertheless just as elegant, was conceived in liquid wood which offers it a perfect suppleness. All the materials that compose the pump as well as the packaging are biodegradable. And donât forget, a portion of the sale will be donated to goodplanet.org, an organization that aims âto bring ecology at the heart of consciousnessâ. Mission accomplished for this ecopump that continues to seduce Earthlings everywhere.
