The house at 390 Rue Saint-Honoré is launching the Roseau Héritage bag, celebrating the memory of the “it bag” that first gave Longchamp its renown.

This family affair first saw the light of day in 1948, at the address 390 of one of the streets in the Parisian golden triangle. Their equestrian motif wasn’t quite yet in full swing. Specializing in tobacco and leather-clad objects, they bided their time well into the 80s: this is when Longchamp embarked on a quest to discover the perfect feminine accessory.

In 1993, the Longchamp Pliage definitively set the brand on their future path as a design house. Inspired by origami, the product hit its mark with young girls with indiscriminate style. And so, its sophisticated, minimalist, and alluring silhouette took its first steps into the fashion world.

One year earlier, drawn up with a typically French savoir-faire, the Roseau bag with its tote-esque potential entered into the label’s inner circle. The name “Roseau”, meaning “reed” in French, was chosen due to “the shape of its fastener, as fine and delicate as a reed”. Exclusively reserved for press reviews, the bag flew off shelves with its straight, active, and masculine lines. Soon after Longchamp was practically obliged to give their creation a wide commercial release, it became the brand’s second best-selling piece.

The insolent vigor of its 20th birthday has chosen Sophie Delafontaine – daughter of founder Philippe Cassegrain – to dream up the Roseau Héritage. This is a more ample line, still sealed with a polished nickel fastener. Made in a Bérénia veal or crocodile skin, the bag is available in two sizes and topped off with two pockets. Its arched curves attract an even softer regard than the previous generation.

Bordeaux, black, duck, and steel, are joined by color schemes terracotta, brown, vegetable, and cognac. There’s enough here to love each and every inch!
