Marilyn Monroe once  said: “The real lover is the man who can thrill you by kissing your forehead or smiling into your eyes or just staring into space.” Fragile. Feminine. Incandescent. So many terms will forever adorn this incontestable icon, and inspire designers in the meantime.
For their “Rendez-Vous” collection, released this December 2012, Roger Vivier rendered hommage to Marilyn by revisiting a number of iconic pieces like the rectangular Pilgrim pouch and the small Prismic shoulder bag. The famed Prisme and Navette pouches, complete with their ambiguous shape and cut diamonds, have also showed up to the rendez-vous. The inventor and sculptor of the stiletto heel, Roger Vivier also included their Orsay shoes, measuring 12 centimeters in height, in this collection. The signature buckle finish is also present.

Each of these pieces has been released in accordance with various themes and materials, in order to better convey what it really means to be a Marilyn. Bruno Frisoni, creative director, envisions her as being tender, passionate, and slightly erratic. She incarnates the spirit of love itself. Accordingly, prints featuring an ethereal, wispy sunset are paired with an impetuous, scarlet red, like an organza poppy. Also featured are sequins, lace, snakeskin, and crocodile leather encased in a strict, modest geometrical layout. “Cubist”, skin-deep, love-deep, as if from the sky above, this collection has captured a delicate, ardent, and sensual icon: the incarnation of each and every woman.

Eclectic and “nomadic”, Rendez-Vous is a series of paintings-sculptures that you won’t be able to help but fall in love with.
