Jaeger-Lecoultre’s latest film about the Reverso Cordonnet Duetto reveals the essence of this iconic watch, its dual aspect and its capacity to reinvent itself. Diane Kruger perfectly incarnates the essence of the watch.
How many times can you reinvent yourself in one lifetime? That is the question that Jaeger-Lecoultre is asking in their film, and the response is: infinitely. Indeed, this new Reverso Cordonnet Duetto is entirely covered in diamonds, more than 1,250 of them. But to reinvent yourself, you have to have an origin, inspirations. And to celebrate its 180th anniversary, Jaeger-Lecoultre took inspiration from a 1936 model symbolizing the harmony of aesthetic and technique. The myth comes from its two back-to-back dials and a double set of hands set into motion by the same mechanical movement, allowing the user to stay on top of two different time zones.
This steel watch expresses its dual character by presenting a silver dial, alluring and modest, on its frontside for the light of day and a black dial on the backside decked out with diamonds to attract the light of night. Since 2009, Diane Kruger has been incarnating the image of this jewel. She also has two facets. At the beginning of her career, she was a model with a high degree of charm. Then, she embarked on a successful foray into cinema. She may have brilliantly distinguished herself in “Inglorious Basterds” and imposed herself in the 7th art, but she still holds onto all the elegance characteristic of a top model, especially with a Reverso on her wrist…
Grace, refinement, elegance… All of these could describe Diane Kruger as well as everything the Reverso Cordonnet Duetto has to offer. This marriage between the blond German angel and this Swiss gem promises to be a fruitful one.
