Red Leather Trenchcoat Versace Men Fall-Winter 2018

A group of sculptures lit up in lilac, right in the center of the floor, were the visual reference point for the entire runway. Donatella Versace may have sought to make cuts sexy and fabrics sporty these last two seasons, but today the brand is taking on more traditional clothing. Wearability and lightness are obviously a must today, but it’s in the volumes and fabrics, mixing vinyl and nylon with a more subversive approach, that Donatella is able to punctuate her collection with highly desirable pieces.

The Fall/Winter 2018 collection is the first to fit into the brand’s new positioning. Donatella even declared that the goal of the collection was: “Bringing together the different tribes of Versace men and the powerful positivity that can be born when, coming from different places, their cultures can finally come together.” Red leather was the key fabric – the red trenchcoat is its apotheosis. Within a flamboyant yet mastered style, the red leather trenchcoat plays with taste and the hybrid sensibilities of the Versace label. Here, luxury is sexualized with vinyl pieces, while the waist is systematically belted.
