On September 26th, Delvaux inaugurated their boutique at 151-154 Galerie Valois, previous home to the engravers of the Kings of France. The brand, created in 1829, once more called on Martine Feipel and Jean Bechameil, who were already present for the renovation of their historic Galeries de la Reine boutique in Brussels. This Luxembourgish artistic duo took inspiration from the very essence of the brand to create a classic and contemporary decor by tying together armories, seals, heraldic waxes, mosaics, and the stairs in the Lumière brothers’ workshop with minimalist and fresh furnishings.

It was at the Universal Exposition of 1958 that Delvaux first left their mark with “Le Brillant”, created by stylist Paule Goethals. This bag, modern what with its trapeze shape and clean-cut curves, soon became a classic for the brand who has never ceased to rework it ever since. Its size, color, and materials have changed throughout successive collections.

This year, in reference to an exhibit on Belgian painter René Magritte at the Art Institute of Chicago, Delvaux is collaborating with Barneys New York for the “Les Humeurs de Brillant” collection. This iconic bag is being shown off in nine different styles representing the brand’s values as well as their profound attachment to their country and their patrimony.
