Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall 2024 — As with every season for nearly four years now, Jean Paul Gaultier invites designers to take the helm of his house’s artistic direction for one collection. This time, it was Nicolas Di Felice, the current artistic director of Courrèges, who brought the Gaultier DNA to life!

The Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall 2024 collection by Nicolas Di Felice evoked the ascent of a newcomer in Paris, initially dressed in elegant and discreet outfits: long-sleeved jackets and dresses, long skirts, and high collars. As the show progressed, the clothes gradually revealed more skin, the head appeared, then the shoulders, and finally, the dresses bared the hips!

The codes dear to the Jean Paul Gaultier house – audacity, gender subversion, and inclusion – were beautifully revisited by Nicolas Di Felice. His silhouettes, starting with covered outfits evolving into more revealing dresses, echo the famous theatrical transformations of Gaultier’s shows. The common thread of this collection? The hooks and eyelets, directly drawn from Jean Paul Gaultier’s archives — a strong fusion of the past and present of a timeless house!

“For me and so many queer, different people from the countryside — from all over the world — he represented Paris, a city where anything is possible. He was truly the first to celebrate different people. Everyone remembers that about him, and it’s a good thing because he really did,” explained Nicolas Di Felice.

From strict garments to more sensual outfits… The rebellious spirit of Jean Paul Gaultier breathed through the silhouettes. Luxurious materials such as silk gabardine, gazar, and taffeta, used to create sophisticated drapes, highlight the technical excellence and craftsmanship — true JPG Haute Couture signatures. Notably, the dazzling chainmail dress made of 40,000 interconnected hooks and eyelets… “I was able to create drapes that wouldn’t be possible without this technique,” added Nicolas Di Felice.
