A renowned perfume only has meaning if its roots bear witness to a sophistication and refinement that reveal an out-of-the-ordinary personality from the get-go. J’adore is one of these. Like an homage to Christian Dior’s passion for flowers, J’adore is a scent that symbolizes ultimate femininity. To unite the most noble of flowers from a precious garden with a unique, generous, and harmonious floral bouquet, the nose of François Demachy sets out to the four corners of the Earth every year to find the most beautiful primary materials. This is what Dior is inviting us to discover through this short film: the different stages of conception of an iconic perfume. It’s an emotional journey that begins in the city of Grasse, the cradle of French perfumery. In the Domaine de Manon, jasmine and May rose, the two key ingredients, are cultivated. Then, enchantment goes to work within at Baccarat and the Atelier Dior Joaillerie. These are the locations where the flask is fashioned in gold and glass. And now, this concentrate of pure luxury is being conditioned in an exceptional flask.
“The flask: a talisman, an alchemy.” In 1999, when an appropriate bottle had to be found for this nectar, Hervé Van Der Straeten had the bright idea of recalling the famous “en 8” silhouette. The choice of an amphora shape is immediately imposing. The flask’s super-feminine look and the finesse of its volume are both echos to the crisp and shapely haute couture silhouettes of 1947. A pure and sensual silhouette that can be found in the slender and golden cap, inspired by Maasai necklaces and the haughty bearing of the turn-of-the-century lace necklaces that Christian Dior’s mother loved to wear. For the holidays, the flask is getting decked out with a marvelous and precious new coat in this Prestige edition. A number of gold chains attach the cap to the bottle. This exceptional edition can be closed with the help of a few massive gold chains, assembled by hand by master jewelry artisans. An extraordinary signature of which only eight copies were created in the entire world.
