Gucci x Adidas: Imminent arriving in store
Introduce at the Exquisite Gucci Autumn/Winter 2022 show, the Adidas x Gucci collection brings together pieces from Gucci’s retro, zany and refined wardrobe with Adidas’ sporty lines – in a kaleidoscope of styles and genres that works.
To accompany the launch of the Gucci x Adidas collection in shops, Alessandro Michele, the brilliant artistic director of Gucci, has imagined an inspired, retro and funky campaign. And he used a 1979 Adidas archive catalogue to give the perfect team the keys to the exercise.
The company notes that “Initially presented at the Exquisite Gucci show, a mirror-rich space where historical icons were multiplied and metamorphosed into streetwear creations, the first Adidas x Gucci collection expands by staying true to its creative concept: the attachment to the three stripes. Revealed in a lookbook launched last month, this multi-faceted selection stays true to Alessandro Michele’s kaleidoscopic aesthetic by combining the House’s codes with those of the historic sports brand – and therefore those of high fashion and streetwear.”
The Adidas x Gucci collection is a fusion of two of the most influential fashion houses of the moment and is brought to life through the eye of the most expressive photographer of her generation. Dutch photographer Carlijn Jacobs captures the funky, retro spirit of the multi-faceted collection in a plethora of zany, active characters.
Lulled by the frenzied rhythms of a heady soundtrack, where we note lyrics like “When your thoughts become reality, you understand what magic is…” The collection is thus anchored in its time around the idea of movement and joy, with lyrics linking fashion to magic… As in latest cruise show.
