This is the second season that Frida Giannini, creative director for the Gucci label, fervent admirer of horseback riding, has excavated some signature pieces from archives to offer the young princess of Monaco a clothing line for her horse races. And this year, Forever Now is paying homage to the horsebit, the mythic Gucci emblem that’s been present in its collections for almost fifty years now.
The double-G fashion house is celebrating its 90th birthday by making Princess Caroline’s daughter- Charlotte Casiraghi- the muse for its Fall/Winter 2012 campaign. “Forever Now”: the elicitation of the future in the present. Plunged in the equestrian universe that inspired this second line (the first highlighted the brand’s signature green-red-green stripe), the moccasin is getting fitted with a metallic horsebit once more, a reference to the nobility and all their equine privileges. Photography for the two women’s collaboration was left to the lens of duo Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The result? A series of shots in “uncolored” shades, where the absoluteness of elegance, beauty, and refinement is laid out in an intimate atmosphere. A natural beauty that, with but one languid pose, seems to unravel the secret of its own reverie under the watchful amber eyes of a label spelled: G U C C I.
