“I don’t want bourgeois fashion”, claims Erdem Moralioglu, who made flowers his brand’s signature. His fashion idol? Who else but Yves Saint Laurent. He textured the creations for his last runway show during London Fashion Week in a quasi-couture way. His silhouettes, at the edge of science fiction, demonstrate all the virtuosity of a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London: an unsettling sense of contrast with a fresh delicateness. For his 2014 look, he’s sticking with his favorite, but this time, with a less strict objective.
A flower is embroidered in 3D on his contrasted ribbing sweater. It’s a romantic addition to a sweater with natural lines and magical modernness. From his own mixed racial identity, he takes a mixture of genres and materials to create a piece that’s “cool, eccentric, creative, sophisticated, and technically very sharp”, to which he gives a must-have aura with ostrich feathers and great fanfare. Made to accentuate the false simplicity of an arresting beauty.
