Chanel Haute Couture Autumn 2024 — the collection captivated the audience within the prestigious setting of the Palais Garnier. A collection steeped in Chanel traditions, staged by director Christophe Honoré, who transformed this iconic venue into a dazzling fashion theater.
Chanel Haute Couture Autumn 2024: Black, White, And The Tailleur
Since the announcement of Virginie Viard’s imminent departure, who succeeded Karl Lagerfeld in 2019, it is the Chanel Fashion Creation Studio that has taken the reins of this collection. Faithful to the house’s DNA, this Chanel Haute Couture Autumn 2024 collection draws its inspiration from the baroque and theatrical atmosphere of the Palais Garnier, incorporating dramatic elements into each piece.
The classics of Chanel have been revisited — the iconic Chanel suit has been reinterpreted in salt-and-pepper tweed with fringes and tassel embroideries. However, it is in vibrant colors adorned with cabochon stones that it reveals a truly couture playfulness.
A double-breasted duster coat was spotted, showcasing a varied tufted tweed, bringing an unparalleled richness of texture. Recurrent bow motifs adorned bronze lace skirts and black coat dresses, while feathers added a delicate touch to an evening cape, ideal over a long pink lamé shirt dress.
The eveningwear magnified Chanel’s legacy with the bold use of lacquered jersey, offering reflections that shone under the theater lights. In black on a buttoned coat, the lacquered jersey captured the spotlight with striking elegance.
The highlight of the show was the presentation of a white taffeta wedding dress, inspired by the voluminous lines of Princess Diana’s wedding gown. This piece, combining whimsy and grandeur, brought the Chanel Haute Couture Autumn 2024 show to a spectacular close!
