Assouline is a publisher that releases beautiful books with international renown, already considered to be a reference point in the world of luxury and culture. After harmoniously filling libraries of avid readers and literary types, Assouline has now taken it upon themselves to imagine sleek library sets of their own. Starting from a literary universe that’s avid for beauty and well-being, these publishers are able to compose stylish and inspiring furniture, as aesthetic as they are astounding. Under the moniker “Assouline Interiors”, an entire line of office furniture is made available, making for a library with contemporary charm aplenty when fully assembled. Prosper and Martine Assouline actually conceived two different library lines: High Society and Allure, the first collections of this kind for Assouline. And have no fear, the Assouline duo imagined them just as they would their eponymous books: gracious and wildly intelligent !
Up until May 9th 2015, Assouline will be making an appearance at Le Bon Marché in Paris’ Left Bank. Pieces from the two collections will be put on display; while High Society is incarnated in wenge exteriors, red lacquer, and polished brass, the Allure collection is lacquered with wood or bronze finishings. Everything was meticulously put together, from the desk to the side tables, armchairs, sofa, bookshelf, folding screen, right down to the paper bin. Moreover, the Ultimate cabinet that’s part of High Society is built to hold up to 10 books from the eponymous collection. The desk is also a work of art in and of itself: made of wenge wood, its surface made of leather, its details and drawer handles made of polished brass, it responds to the rest of the red lacquer interiors. As for the Allure collection, it’s composed of a desk, a side table, a chair, bookshelves, a stool, a step ladder, a lectern… And the Allure room is entirely carpeted in mohair, with feet made of polished bronze. The atmosphere is namelessly sublime; only the eye can fully comprehend. These collections will be exclusively presented in the Assouline pop-up store from April 1st to May 9th in the Maison section of Le Bon Marché; afterwards you can order them via e-mail or at Assouline’s boutique at 35 rue Bonaparte, Paris.
