1992. The Ritz. Superstar couturier Thierry Mugler presents his first haute couture runway show. The very same year, he releases his first perfume in conjunction with fashion houses Clarins and Vera Strubi.

In doing so, he hoped to create a perfume that evoked “his own childhood memories, snacks at his grandmother’s house, cotton candy, chocolate cake, caramel…”. A star was born: a bottle with five branches filled with a blue liquid, a true outlier amongst floral perfumes like that of Issey Miyake, released that same year. It was a sensual, gourmand perfume that imbued the skin with an astral scent, seemingly of the Far East.

In order to celebrate these past two decades of success, the designer is giving us a new reinterpretation of the classic bottle, just in time for the holidays: sprinkled with stardust and set with a medallion engraved “20”, the new version is rounded on the front, while a prism adorns the backside. A perspective effect is further achieved by the metal star that hangs above the rest of the bottle.

The spiral created by the final product is just as hypnotic as Mugler’s muses: after Jerry Hall and Naomi Watts, today it is Eva Mendes who, decked out in a sparkling blue dress that matches the color of the fragrance itself, incarnates all the sensuality that the designer intended. Besides her physical traits, the beauty is also lending her voice for the product’s next T.V. ad.

This unique object is dedicated to all those who love this perfume. And for all those who don’t… it’s not too late to get on board!
