Circles, crescents, and triangles. Azzedine Alaïa has long projected these motifs onto his couture creations. Whether on a dress, a shirt lining, or encrusted on a clutch or a bag, the perforated motif is the couturier’s signature seal – his clothes are practically spangled with them so that the skin can be hinted at. Now this same intriguing game of ‘now you see me, now you don’t’ is being played with the designer’s very first scent.
It’s a fabric whose openings hide just as much as they reveal, a visual signature that’s been present ever since its first application on a leather belt-corset in the 80s. This is how Azzedine Alaïa, designer Martin Szekely, and a number of glass artisans turned the ordinary flask for Alaïa eau de Parfum into something much more mysterious. The perforated motif, here in an opaque form, reveals its magic as soon as the flask is brought into the light. This exceptional yet no-frills creation attains the perfect precision of a true Azzedine Alaïa creation.
